Day 44 - Lyme Regis to West Bexington - 17.8m / 6:52

Our first day in Dorset! Thankfully, the torrential rain that hit overnight clears just as we start walking. And we are joined by this lovely lady!

The storm has made the sea really choppy as we leave Lyme Regis

This is where we need to go today but first we have to navigate some really frustrating path diversions as the result of slippage into the sea.

We have almost done 5 Miles walking already when we reach Charmouth

And finally start back on the coast towards Golden Cap. The highest cliff top in Dorset.

The climb is tough but the rewards are great.

After another down and up, we are on top of the world again...

And arrive in Seaton, where there is an amazing pub we know.

And time to burn those calves once more...

There are lots of cliff falls here on the path as the edges get eroded. Over the years large parts of it have fallen and we are careful to keep away from the edges.

It’s a truly spectacular day.

Finally, we make it to West Bay on the edge of Bridport. Time for some refreshment.

Before we start again on the relentless up and down...

This is the Hive Cafe at Burton Bradstock - a usual favourite of ours. But we are too late for lunch and want to crack on today.

This looks like natural purple sprouting broccoli just rooted in the sand. I am not sure how yummy it would be but it looks fantastic.

The SWCP markers have turned to what looks like tombstones - the way I feel they maybe for my feet!

And the terrain turns to shingle alongside a nature reserve

As we get to the end of Cogden, good for fishing  off the beach.

West Bexington, our destination for today is up ahead. It is really hard going walking on the shingle for the least couple of miles and fills our boots with stones.

Harry doesn’t care - as long as the ball is thrown...

And so we make it to the very lovely Manor Hotel in West Bexington. They certainly are not all like this!

Time for a pint in the garden in the sunshine. 😀
