The Final 200 Miles - April 2018!


We plan to finish what we started and complete the final 200 miles of the South West Coast Footpath in April 2018. This

time we will do it in one go - taking 14 straight days.

We will start on Monday April 23rd and finish on Sunday 6th May. Here is the route - please email me for the complete details including the accommodation we have booked - any / all welcome to join, just like last time:

Day 1 Monday, 23rd April 2018 Grade Around 11.5 miles (18.5 km) from Plymouth Hoe to Wembury Beach. Average walking time 5 hours not including breaks. Easy grade. Day 2 Tuesday, 24th April 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - Noss Mayo to Bantham - Transfer around the Erme Grade Around 14 miles (22.5 km) - starts Easy grade then Strenuous. 6 to 7 hours average walking time without breaks.

Day 3 Wednesday, 25th April 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - Bantham to Salcombe Grade Around 13 miles (21km) - 6 miles Moderate grade 8 miles Strenuous. 6 hours average walking time without breaks

Day 4 Thursday, 26th April 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - Salcombe to Stoke Fleming Grade Around 19 miles (30.6 km) - 9 miles (14.5 km) Strenuous walking to Start Point then quickly becoming Easy with a long flat section along Slapton Sands. Average walking time 7 to 8 hours not including breaks.

Day 5 Friday, 27th April 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - Stoke Fleming to Brixham Grade Around 15.5 miles (24.9 km) - Moderate to Strenuous walking. Average walking time 7.5 hours not including breaks.

Day 6 Saturday, 28th April 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - Brixham to Babbacombe Grade Around 13.5 miles (21.7 km) - Moderate/Easy Grade. Easy walking through the urban areas of Torquay. Average walking time not including breaks 5 hours.

Day 7 Sunday, 29th April 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - Babbacombe to Exmouth Grade Around 14.5 miles (23.3 km) - 6 miles Strenuous then 8 miles Easy grade. Average walking time not including breaks 6-7 hours.

Day 8 Monday, 30th April 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - Exmouth to Sidmouth Grade Around 13 miles (20.9 km) - moderate grade with some strenuous parts towards the end. Average walking time 6 to 6.5 hours not including breaks.

Day 9 Tuesday, 1st May 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - Sidmouth to Lyme Regis Grade Around 17 miles (27.4 km) - Severe then Strenuous then Moderate for the last 7 miles (11.3km). Usually at least 8 hours average walking time without breaks.

Day 10 Wednesday, 2nd May 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - Lyme Regis to West Bexington Grade Around 16 miles (25.7 km) - 7 miles (11.3 km) Strenuous grade, 9 miles (14.5 km) Moderate. Average walking time 6.5 to 7 hours not including breaks.

Day 11 Thursday, 3rd May 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - West Bexington to Portland Grade Around 16.5 miles (26.6 km) to Chiswell / Fortuneswell - Easy Grade walking average walking time 6-7 hours not including breaks.

Day 12 Friday, 4th May 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - Portland Circle to Osmington Mills Grade Around 15 miles Easy grade - moderate in places and after Weymouth towards the end of the walk. Average walking time 3-4 hours not including breaks.

Day 13 Saturday, 5th May 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - Osmington Mills to Chapmans Pool (Worth Matravers) - Transfer to Swanage for the night

Grade 17.5 miles - 6 miles of Moderate to Strenuous grade to Lulworth then 7 miles Severe through the Army Range to Kimmeridge before a return to Moderate to Strenuous walking onto Worth Matravers. From Hill bottom at the back of Chapmans Pool its one mile along the track into Worth Matravers village. Note this section passes through the Lulworth Firing Ranges which are only open on certain days of the year.

Day 14 Sunday, 6th May 2018 Activity South West Coast Path - Worth Matravers to Sandbanks Ferry (Poole) Via St Aldhelms Head Grade Transfer this morning back to Worth Matravers for walk onto Poole. Around 17 miles (27.4 km) or 14.5 miles (23.3 km) - 2 miles (3.2 km) Strenuous and 8 miles (12.9 km) Moderate then 7 miles (11.3 km) Easy grade. Average walking time 6 - 7 hours not including breaks.
