Day 33 - Looe to Freathy - 12.36m / 5:45

Another very difficult post to write today - what to leave out?

It was truly amazing scenery and terrain, coupled with having the family alongside. Expect  a lot of shots and not not much to add!

We started by getting a short ferry for fun in Looe...

Looe is a pretty and interesting place, there are lots of shops here. I think I found my Christmas present...

The intrepid walking squad for today...

The sky is “moody” as we leave Looe on the path with a steep climb

We discover the power of Kendal Mint Cake

And uncanny true likenesses

We arrive in Millendreath which was an abandoned holiday park but it seems to have some investment and there is some life here now, including a tidal pool.

And then onto the beach at Seaton - five go walking...

A few people in the beach today but it is so big that it easily swallows us up... the pebbles are amazing and so are the rock pools...

A bit of a walk along the beach until Downderry

And then a very steep climb through the houses and eventually on top of some the highest cliffs in South Cornwall.

From here the views are spectacular, on a sunny but hazy day.

We eat our lunch on top of the world for today.

It is a fine autumn afternoon...

Here is Portwrinkle which has some interesting rock formations and a great beach...

It is also home to the Finnygook - the gook is a ghost smuggler that roams these cliffs who was bludgeoned to death by the family of his own crew after he informed on them and they were sent to Australia, a fate worse than death... some of the families apparently still won’t go on the cliffs in the dark even now...

Very proud of our intrepid team for completing this strenous section of around 8.5 miles

The next three miles are just myself and the missus - the late afternoon sunshine is great and it feels like we are in the Mediterranean, except the scenery is better...

This is “our” beach at Freathy and the kids have made it back and are waving to us from the sand

From here we get a view of Plymouth across the other side of the head. We will walk round this tomorrow and finish our adventure for now.
