Day 29 - Portloe to Gorran Haven - 8.56m / 3:58

Much nicer day when we got going at Portloe this morning. The Lugger Hotel is one of the nicest places we have stayed on the path and Portloe is very pretty.

It looks terrific as we leave it.

We are headed around the point in the distance here today...

I never get tired of the ever changing scenery

Our companions are loving the day...

This pretty much sums up how a lot of Cornwall feels now - closed from Tuesday to Saturday 😂

Amazing beach at Portholland

Apparently this is where they filmed some of Mrs  Peregrine’s Extraordinary Children, one of our favourite recent films...

This is the beach at Porthluney which, along with both Porthollands, is part of the Caerhays Castle estate

The castle was designed by the same person who was behind Buckingham Palace, Marble Arch and much of regency London. If feels a little weird out here and there is a pheasant shoot starting with all sorts of people dressed in fine country clothes when we arrive. There is also a great beach cafe that is showing Nightmare On Elm Street at 9pm tonight!

Pausing to fill our flasks, we push on through various points and, what seems like, secret beaches to make our way eventually to Dodman Point

Dodman Point hosts a very large cross and was the site of an Iron Age fort.

The views from here make us feel on top of the world again today. And we can see all the way back to The Lizard where we started this week.

We arrive at Gorran Haven, our destination for today. We have done 50 miles this week through some pretty rough terrain, which is a significant achievement for a 10 year old boy. We have got through quite a bit of Kendal mint cake on the way.

Gorran Haven is also very pretty. We say goodbye to the path for this week.

Harry and I will return for our last week on Monday.
