Day 7 - Barnstaple to Westward Ho! - 18m / 5:53

Today was supposed to be two days of walking. We were supposed to do 7.5 miles and then another 11 miles split between a stayover Instow.

My sister, Emma, joined us today and has only until tomorrow lunchtime to walk so we thought we would nail the 18 miler and then tomorrow do the 11 miles to Clovelly with an early start and stop walking by lunchtime so she can get off.

That is all the walking for this week so Harry and I can get home tomorrow night and rest up for the "severe" week next week that takes us into

Cornwall on Monday.

Today has been really flat and we have had to compete the estuary staring at Barnstaple (on the River Taw) and going through Instow (where we are staying), Bideford, Appledore and finishing in Westward Ho! The only place with an exclamation mark after it's name, and when you get there you realise why - the beach is amazing (the biggest I have ever seen) but the town is a s***hole! (With one massive exclamation mark)

I am just going to post the pictures - again, another stunning day with amazing things to see. Fantastic I was able to share it with my beautiful sister...

The path here is an old railway line and we were on it for several miles...

Ryan's new boat... 😂

Leave it!

Fresh samphire anyone? (And none of that rock samphire either!)

These newcomers know nothing... it's definitely not that way...

This beach is HUGE! In the distance is where we were last week...

So we arrive in Westward Ho! (I hope you have been appreciating the pictures) and what better warm-down than to go for a quick ride... surf's up!

And now for some evenings entertainment...

And a light snack before bed...
