Day 5 - Woolacombe to Croyde - 7.8m / 2:46

A day of two surfing beaches. Started the day with it peeing with rain in Woolacombe. Surf was up and a couple of brave surfers were already out. Stayed in a great seaside guesthouse - Imperial. V friendly and great brekky.

Set off across the dunes, looking out for adders in the rain! The beach is fantastic - even in this weather.

Crossed up onto Baggy Point which separates the two beaches. Can't see any Mancs here!

The end of the point doesn't disappoint... and there is even a smugglers cave or two. The point we went around yesterday is in the distance...

First glimpses of Croyde...

The rock formations are incredible...

It's behind you...

Croyde is the more dangerous of the two beaches - more rips but better waves and more difficult to surf (apparently!). There were a lot more surfers here...

The beach most resembles the Normandy coast and so was used to practice the D-Day landings...

Into Croyde and after a short interlude in the Thatch Inn, by taxi to Barnstable where we caught what I can only describe as a "train-bus". Where do we pedal...

Back home from Exeter St Davids to Paddington to see my dudes for the weekend.

End of a great week - 60.6 miles completed!
