Day 3 - Lynmouth to Combe Martin - 14 Miles / 5:30

This was the most taxing day so far. Even though the distance and time don't look that strenuous, the terrain is seriously difficult in a lot of places and there are big ascents and drops. Up and down like a whores drawers!

But the scenery is spectacular. So I am going to post a lot of pics today and I hope most of them speak for themselves...

Started the day with a very nice eggs Benedict at the Bath Hotel in Lynmouth. Then onto the path...

I don't think I look like this... yet.

The scenery rapidly delivers as we say goodbye to Lynmouth and Lynton

The Victorians built a fenicular here to join up the two villages. They used to take "baths" in my hotel!

It gets pretty steep on our way out to Valley of the Rocks.

Starting to understand why people like Valley of the Rocks although not sure which one is "the devil's cheesewring"!

Feral goats that don't seem to care about dropping off...

Not sure why I would want to be in any of these places right now...

This is supposed to be one of the biggest waterfalls on the walk but goes on and on over several cliffs with 50ft drops that I can't see...

The path is getting seriously hairy here - scree moving about under your feet with near sheer drops..

Err - no shit...

Are we having fun yet?

The Great Hangman is the highest point you get to on the South West Coast Path and the biggest cliff.

Great views of Exmoor park - didn't see the Hound of the Baskervilles though - only the Hound of Cane End... Shame the path takes you right to the bottom (still 250 metres above sea level apparently) and 9.5 miles in, before they start the ascent! Worth it though...

Top of the world... for today...

And onto the Little Hangman...

And stagger into Combe Martin to find our accommodation, I am knackered...

Not sure they got the right Harry story on this though...
