*WARNING! If you don't like lots of sea view pictures with dogs in them, then this blog probably isn't for you!
Got picked up (from our empty train carriage) from the station by a very friendly taxi driver who dropped me in Minehead and then took my bags on to the accommodation. And we were there! At the start and ready to go...
Everyone is really friendly and we had lots of chats with people.
The locals seemed to know I was coming and laid on a send-off bus for me...
The views are immediately spectacular.
We climbed up out of Minehead onto North Hill. Our first of many ascents. No easy starts are available!
But the rewards are there when you get up there.
The option is there to take the "rugged" route which adds about a mile onto the journey but keeps you on the coast. Obviously, we took that and was rewarded again with amazing views.
Eventually, we ended up at Hurlstone Point, which has stunning views across the Bristol Channel and lunch - this is supposed to be a good point for seeing grey seals but none were spotted today. Fantastic view of Porlock Bay from here.
Pausing only for a well-earned cup of tea on the way at Bossington
And a nose at this cottage for rent a few yards from the beach.
Then we arrived in Porlock Bay - time for a play on the beach with a tennis ball.
Onto Porlock Weir through marshland preserved for scientific interest...
and into Porlock Weir where our accommodation for the night is at the Bottom Ship. Clean and comfortable.
A meal and a few pints of Tribute and ready for one of the more strenuous days tomorrow!
